The NCAA or National Collegiate Athletic Association, was established in 1906 and serves as the athletics governing body for more than 1, 280 colleges, universities, conferences and organizations. The national office is in Indianapolis, Indiana, but the member colleges and universities develop rules and guidelines for athletics eligibility and athletics competition for each of the three NCAA divisions. The NCAA is committed to the student-athlete and to go to governing competition in a fair, safe, inclusive and sportsmanlike manner.

The NCAA Eligibility Center (formerly the Initial Eligibility Clearinghouse) is an organization that works with the NCAA to determine a student’s eligibility for athletics participation in his or her first year of college enrollment. Students who want to participate in college sports at an NCAA college or university must register with the Eligibility Center. The Eligibility Center staff follows NCAA bylaws and regulations in analyzing and processing a student’s high school academic records, ACT or SAT scores and key information about amateurism participation to determine the student's initial eligibility.

FAFSA 1-800-4-FED-AID (1-800-433-3243) www.fafsa.ed.gov Even if a high school student-athlete receives a full athletic scholarship to participate in college sports, colleges and universities will require students and their families to submit specific financial information. In order to receive federal financial aid, students and families must complete the Federal student aid form known as FAFSA. The website provides all the information necessary information for applying for federal student aid including required documentation and required forms.
